After launching our business in South Africa in 1991, we saw the potential broader investment opportunities on the African continent as early as 1996 when we opened offices in Botswana and Namibia and launched local equity and debt strategies there. Subsequently, working closely with our established South African Equities team, our Frontier team developed substantial Pan-African investment capabilities spanning both public and private equity. In frontier markets, our detailed analysis and hands-on approach are what set us apart as an investor.

We now have the capacity to cover the entire universe of Frontier opportunities, either directly or via established local partnerships. Our Frontier team has extensive relationships and high quality networks that can only be built over time and at a personal level. The majority of the investment team is based in Africa but is also well represented in London.
