What happened and why it matters for global investors

From August 4-6, the United States hosted a historic summit on the future of US-Africa relations. This gathering of political and corporate leaders was the first of its kind. It underscored the growing importance of Africa as a strategic partner for global businesses and governments.

The Africa Leaders Summit will likely be considered a pivotal moment for both Africa and the United States. Not only were significant initiatives launched and funding commitments made, but more broadly it reaffirmed Africa’s recent success and positive trajectory. Global investors and business leaders have taken notice of Africa’s rise.

Investec Asset management was fortunate to play a significant role during these proceedings. On August 4th, our Investment Institute released a major study, in partnership with the US Chamber of Commerce, titled ‘Africa and the United States: A defining relationship of the 21st century'.
