We are pleased to announce that the Investec Global Strategic Equity Fund won the award for Best Global Equity Fund at the Morningstar South Africa Fund Awards hosted in Cape Town on 28 Febuary. Our fund beat the Orbis Global Equity Fund to take the top spot, based on its ability to add the most value for investors within the context of its peer group in 2017 and over longer time periods. Morningstar selects the finalists using a quantitative methodology with a qualitative overlay that considers the one-, three-, and five-year performance history of all eligible funds.
This accolade follows the Raging Bull Awards hosted earlier this year, in which Investec Asset Management won the coveted Best Offshore Management Company of the Year alongside Nedgroup Investments. The Raging Bull Awards celebrate SA’s top unit trust performers and the offshore award recognises the unit trust company that has the ‘most impressive and most consistent overall performance’ across their entire suite of offshore funds, taking into account all factors including performance, risk management and consistency.
In addition to this win, Gail Daniel added another two awards for the Investec Managed Fund to her trove of trophies over the years – one for top straight performance by a multi-asset high equity fund over three years and the other for the top risk-adjusted performance over three and five years in this category. Last year, the Investec Managed Fund won a special award recognising its outstanding 21-year track record and in 2016 it was similarly rewarded as the top-performing multi-asset high equity fund over two decades.
“The offshore awards acknowledges the hard work we have put into developing a globally integrated and competitive investment team. We are truly in a unique position to offer our clients a compelling range of both domestic and offshore funds, ultimately making them the biggest winners,” said Sangeeth Sewnath, Deputy MD.
The full details and basis of the awards, affirmed on 01.02.18 and 28.02.18, are available on request.
